By September 2020, staff from across the Civil Service had been experiencing remote-working for seven months. The Civil Service Employee Engagement Survey provided an opportunity for staff to express their opinions on remote working as a result of COVID-19.
Seven questions were included in the CSEES, in a special module dedicated solely to remote working as a result of the pandemic. Staff answering ‘Yes’ to the first question (“Are you currently working remotely as a result of COVID-19?”) were brought to the remaining six remote-working questions in the module. Staff answering ‘No’ were brought through to the final section of the CSEES.
Over 20,000 staff responded to the COVID module of questions, making it the largest workplace survey on remote working as a result of the pandemic in Ireland to date. A report was produced outlining the results of the COVID module, and published by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform in late December 2020.
This report is available below, alongside additional resources highlighting the its key findings.
The web event on the findings of 2020 CSEES COVID Module ‘COVID-19 & the Future of Remote Working – National & International Perspectives’ took place on 4th March 2021. The recording of this video was rerun on 26th March 2021.
